Together with Bertrand Perz one of the most distinguished experts on the system of Nazi concentration camps and author of the first book-length study on the memory of concentration camps, I curated a section of the first exhibition in the Autrian Holocaust Memorial Museum at Mauthausen.
With designer Christian Sturminger we realized a multi-layered display, i.e. an archaeology of the memory of the former concentration camp that was transformed into a memorial after the liberation in 1945.
The exhibition is documented in the catalogue “The Memory of Mauthausen” (Vienna 2004) I co-edited with Bertrand Perz a.o.

HEAD OF SIEGFRIED
Together with the design team of Zone Vienna Friedrich Stadler and I created a multi-media on-site display that reconstructs and documents the history of the World War I memorial “The Head of Siegfried,” one of the main sites of Austrian memory politics of the past decades. In the tradtion of the study of the history of memory and politics as embodied in War memorials (cf. Reinhart Koselleck), the documentation together with an art installation by Bele Marx and Giles Mussard reflects on the history of so-called Langemarck-memorial, and more gestruggle over representation of World War I. Here you can find a short documentation of the project.
